SALARIES:

  • L2/L3 Non JLR Basic Salaries start from £32k up to £45k (DOE) + Bonuses
  • L2/L3 JLR Basic Salaries start from £42k up to £55k (DOE) + Bonuses
  • L4 JLR Master Technician ££££++++

WORKING HOURS

  • 42 hours per week. (MONDAY-FRIDAY ONLY)
  • Hours: Mon -Thu 08.00-17.30hrs & Fri 08.00-17.00hrs.
  • 60 mins break per day (inc. 40 mins lunch)
  • Overtime available at double time.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A VEHICLE TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 2-3)

The Vehicle Technician reports to the Workshop Manager / Workshop Controller.

  • Carrying out Vehicle Health Checks (VHC’s) / inspections (to identify any mechanical or electrical issues) JLR vehicles.
  • Identify problems with vehicles using the diagnostic equipment.
  • Carry out warranty, maintenance and repair work on JLR vehicles to excellent standards.
  • Explain automotive repairs and issues and provide great customer service.
  • Plan repair procedures using charts, manuals and experience.
  • Test the functionality of parts and systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and general mechanic work on vehicles.
  • Communicating with Workshop Control, Service Advisor / Reception team.
  • Maintaining thorough and up-to-date product knowledge.
  • Performing any scheduled maintenance tasks according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Adhering to manufacturer procedures and processes.
  • Being part of a team and bringing a high attention to detail.
  • Providing your technical expert opinion to customers.
  • Ensuring that all work meets quality standards.
  • Meeting / exceeding all personal and company goals, targets and objectives.
  • Responsibility for maintaining a safe and clean work environment and adheres to all company policies and regulations.
  • To help create and maintain a positive and friendly working environment.
  • Use of the in-house company computer system to accurately record all activity.
  • Always adhering to company manual handling procedures.
  • A willingness to attend any internal / external company training courses aimed at enhancing your skills and keeping up to date with industry changes / standards.
  • Liaise with all departments in a courtesy and professional manner to ensure that the customer and the businesses interests always remain the main priority.

 

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and education requirements:

  • IMI / C&G Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair / Mechanics
  • Numerate and literate (Mathematics and English)
  • Possess a Full UK driving licencE

Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician within an main dealer, franchise car dealership or independent workshop / garage.
  • A minimum of 24 months relevant work experience within a similar environment.
  • Possess a good and varied knowledge and understanding of motor vehicles
  • Good verbal communication
  • Professional appearance and attitude
