Service Technician (Level 2) Great Dunmow Essex
Reporting to: Workshop Manager / Workshop Controller
Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 + Bonus DOE
Position type: Full-Time Contract
Working Hours: Mon-Thu 08.00–17.30hrs Fri: 08.00 – 17.00hrs + any additional hours as required.
Hours Per Week: 42
JOB SUMMARY
As a Service Technician you will be working within a professional garage / workshop environment alongside fellow Vehicle Technicians
.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A SERVICE TECHNICIAN (LEVEL 2)
The Service Technician reports to the Workshop Manager / Workshop Controller.
- Carrying out Vehicle Health Checks (VHC’s) / inspections (to identify any mechanical or electrical issues).
- Performing routine vehicle servicing tasks, including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid checks, tyre and brake fitting.
- Repairing or replacing worn or damaged parts.
- Performing any scheduled maintenance tasks according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Maintaining thorough and up-to-date product knowledge.
- Ensuring that all work meets quality standards.
- Carrying out servicing, diagnosing and repairing of vehicles to excellent standards.
- Delivering exceptionally high customer service levels that lead to customer loyalty and referrals.
- Communicating with the Service Advisor / Reception team and Workshop Control.
- Performing any scheduled maintenance tasks according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Adhering to manufacturer procedures and processes.
- Being part of a team and bringing a high attention to detail.
- Providing your technical expert opinion to customers.
- Ensuring that all work meets quality standards.
- Meeting / exceeding all personal and company goals, targets and objectives.
- Responsibility for maintaining a safe and clean work environment and adheres to all company policies and regulations

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications and education requirements
- NVQ / IMI / C&G Level 2 or Level 3 Qualification in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair / Mechanics OR equivalent experience.
- Numerate and literate (Mathematics and English
- Possess a Full UK driving licence
Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician within an independent or main dealer workshop / garage.
- Possess a good and varied knowledge and understanding of motor vehicles
- A minimum of 24 months relevant work experience within a similar environment.
- Good verbal communication
- Professional appearance and attitude

This role involves fitting, repairing, and maintaining vehicle tyres, including inspecting for wear and damage, balancing wheels, and ensuring proper alignment, while also providing customer advice on tyre care and maintenance.
